About ABR Spanish

Hello, I’m Toni Barceló, founder of ABR Spanish!

I’m a native Spanish and Catalan speaker with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience, both in Europe and the UK. I hold a degree in Philosophy, a degree in Linguistics, a Master’s in Language Teaching, and a recognised teaching qualification.

I started ABR Spanish to help KS3 and KS4 students prepare for their academic challenges. My approach combines structured, exam-board aligned lessons with personalised support, so every student not only improves their Spanish but also learns to use it with confidence to develop their full potential. Parents value the extra support I provide — from homework help and progress tracking to being available between lessons when questions arise.

Otherwise, I also support adult learners who want to learn the language in a way that feels natural, achievable, and genuinely enjoyable. My approach blends clear, structured guidance with personalised conversational practice, so every learner not only improves their Spanish but also gains the confidence to use it in real-life situations.

Outside of teaching, I’m a professional musician, an endurance sports enthusiast, and a devoted dog lover. The passion, discipline, and creativity I bring to music, sport, and life with my dogs are the same qualities I strive to share in my lessons — helping students grow both academically and personally.
