FAQs

Technology & Materials

Q: What are the technical requirements for the lessons?

You just need a reliable internet connection, Zoom and a quiet space.

Q: Do you provide learning materials?

Yes, I provide worksheets, exercises, and practice activities. If extra resources are needed, I’ll recommend the best options.

Trial & Consultation

Q: Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your child’s needs, goals, and how I can best support them. It is also a great chance to get to know each other!

Q: What happens during the consultation?

It’s a friendly, no-pressure chat. We’ll talk about your child’s strengths, challenges, and goals, and you can ask me any questions before committing.

Students' Progress

Q: How do you track progress?

I monitor your child’s progress each lesson using TutorBird and adapt teaching as needed. I also provide monthly updates so you can see how they’re improving.

Q: Do you provide feedback to parents?

Yes. Parent involvement is key, so I share clear feedback on strengths, areas for growth, and next steps on a monthly basis.

Q: How long before we see results?

Learning is a two-way process, so progress depends on your child’s involvement. Most students see improvements in confidence and skills within just a few weeks of consistent lessons. That said, grades cannot be guaranteed, as many factors—such as illness, stress, or exam nerves—are beyond anyone’s control.

Tuition & Lessons

Q: What subjects and levels do you teach?

I currently specialize in Spanish tuition for KS3 and KS4 students, with a focus on building fluency, confidence, and exam success.

Q: How are lessons structured?

Each one-hour lesson balances review, new learning and exam practice. Students build vocabulary and grammar, apply them in speaking, writing, listening and reading, and finish with a short recap to boost confidence and exam readiness.

Q: Do you offer online or in-person sessions?

Lessons are held online, making them convenient and accessible wherever you are.

Q: How many sessions are there each month?

There is one session each week during term time. The number of sessions in a month depends on how many teaching weeks fall in that month (following North Tyneside Council school term dates). You’ll only be charged for the lessons scheduled that month.

Q: Do you offer lessons during school holidays?

Extra lessons can be arranged upon request and tailored to your child’s needs. I also plan special workshops during school breaks to provide additional support and enrichment.

Q: Do you offer additional services?

Additional services can be provided and will be agreed on a case-by-case basis.

Pricing

Q: How much does tutoring cost?

Lesson prices vary depending on whether your child is in KS3 or KS4, and if they’re learning one-to-one or in a small group. I’ll be happy to chat through the best option for your child.

Q: What’s included in the price?

I offer a package which includes: 1-hour online session/week, lesson recording + session resources, limited off-lesson homework and chat support, and monthly progress tracking.

About Your Child's Tutor

Q: What are your qualifications and experience?

I have 20+ years’ experience teaching and tutoring music and languages in both Europe and the UK. I hold a degree in Philosophy (Universitat de les Illes Balears, 2006), a degree in Linguistics (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, 2021), a Master’s in Language Teaching (Universitat de les Illes Balears, 2024), and a recognised teaching qualification.

Q: Do you hold a DBS?

Yes. I hold a valid Enhanced DBS, which is registered with the Update Service, and it can be shown to parents on request.

Q: Do you have experience working with children who struggle with confidence or exam stress?

Absolutely. Many students feel anxious about languages, and I make sure lessons are encouraging, supportive, and designed to build confidence as well as skills.

Q: Do you have experience working with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Yes. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant and SEN Teacher in the UK, and I also have experience supporting SEN students as a tutor. I adapt lessons to each child’s individual needs to help them feel confident and make steady progress.

Booking & Scheduling

Q: How do I book my sessions?

Sessions are arranged directly with the tutor. Payments are due on the last day of each month and can be made easily via direct debit.

Q: Can I reschedule or cancel a session?

Sessions are planned based on near-full attendance to ensure each student receives consistent, high-quality tuition. Because of this, sessions can normally only be rescheduled or cancelled if I initiate the change or if you experience an exceptional situation. Full details are outlined in my Terms & Conditions.

Q: What happens if we miss a lesson?

If a lesson is missed, it unfortunately can’t be rescheduled nor refunded.
